The 2026 Annual Information Statement is open
Charities with a 30 June 2026 year-end have until 31 January 2027 to submit. The ACNC’s focus for the year is governing documents and the partners charities work with.

The ACNC opened the 2026 Annual Information Statement in the Charity Portal in September. For a charity whose reporting year ran from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026, the ACNC says the statement is due by 31 January 2027.
Medium and large charities submit their reviewed or audited financial report alongside it, so the audit timetable needs to work back from that date.
What the ACNC is looking at this year
The Commission’s 2026–27 regulatory focus names two areas: governing documents, and working with partners. On the first, it warns that out-of-date governing documents can affect whether an organisation stays eligible for registration as a charity. On the second, it expects charities to do appropriate due diligence before entering a partnership.
Missing the deadline has consequences
In October 2025 the ACNC revoked the registration of 75 charities for repeatedly failing to meet their reporting obligations. Registration is what gives access to charity tax concessions, so the statement is worth treating as a fixed date.
What to do now
Book any required audit or review with the January deadline in mind, and review your constitution to ensure it reflects your charity’s current purpose and activities.
