Stringent requirements
Registered Company Auditors (RCAs) must meet the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s (ASIC) stringent registration requirements under the Corporations Act 2001. These include appropriate qualifications, practical audit experience, professional capability and fitness to undertake the role. Registration also brings ongoing regulatory obligations and ASIC oversight.
When it’s required
Depending on your entity type and the legislation that applies, reaching certain revenue, asset or other statutory thresholds may mean you are required to engage a Registered Company Auditor. Choosing an RCA from the outset provides access to specialist audit expertise and continuity as your organisation grows and its reporting obligations change.
Even when it isn’t
Even where registration is not legally required, choosing an RCA provides confidence that your auditor has met these additional audit-specific requirements.
